Wayoi.Com - Today there are range debates regarding with single sex education. Most research already proves that students in single-sex education are more likely to success. Although studying in single-sex education gives a lot of advantages, I argue that boys and girls should not be educated separately. There are three main reasons why single-sex education is not a good choice.

Firstly, single-sex education does not prepare students for the real life. In the real life there are two different sexes namely women and men. Absolutely they have to interact with one another. Children will never learn to interact normally with the opposite gender if they are separated during school hours. In addition, single-sex education inhibits the ability of students to understand the nature of different sex. Besides that, it limits their opportunity to work cooperatively with the opposite sex.

Secondly, in terms of mental development, single-sex education may effects students to have a sexual distortion. It happen because students are surrounded by the same sex most of the time. Consequently, it leads students to feel comfortable with the same sex, and then they would have interest in one another.

Finally, academically, single-sex education would not improve student’s performance. High academic performance can be achieved by learning among mix genders. Boys and girls have different perspectives. However, the different perspectives combination among mix genders would enrich student’s knowledge; for example, through group discussion in which the groups are consists of boys and girls.

Based on the reasons above, I strongly believe that the children should not be educated in single-sex education. The parents are needed to think further for the children’s development, and the government should restrict the development of single-sex education.

So many activities carried out by people around the worlds such as entrepreneur, civil servant, entertainer, farmer, doctor, teacher, fisher, helper etc. There are certain kind of job that need special talent or special education before that person will be allowed for that job like doctor, teacher and pilot, but also there are kind of jobs do not need special talent or education, for example, helper, labor.

We heard a lot about people who devote themselves to help others/people in need, they called social worker. Social worker means people who work in the field/term of humanity. They work not only to help the victims of natural disaster like earth quake, floods, or volcano eruption, but also to develop the community in the target areas.  

Being a social worker has several advantages. Firstly, it gave them a chance to travel to many different areas and meet a lot of people from that place. Social workers should able to interact with different people from different background education and culture. Secondly, social workers have plenty of chance to know better about their country since they travel to many different areas.

The islands consist of four main islands: North Pagai, South Pagai, Sipora and Siberut island.  Mentawai is one of district in West Sumatera. To reach that place from Padang you can take a ship or ferry from Bungus harbor. As informed above about the 4 main islands, it has relation with the ferry schedule. There is one ferry to serve 3 main islands, Siberut, Sipora, and Pagai (North and South Pagai has one join harbor). Sipora as a capital town of Mentawai has a few small ships to serve the island as well. Actually there was an airplane served Mentawai island and the port in Sipora, but it’s off for a while since an accident that happen (only one airplane serve Mentawai). The government said the air plane will be active at the beginning of 2012, in fact until today still no air plane.

The time between April to August to coincide with the summer holidays in Europe is the best time for surfing. At that season, Mentawai waves can reach a height of six feet and this is the most sought after by surfers water. Mentawai Islands has recorded 400 points which is often used as a surfing location surfing by surfers.

Of 400 points surfing, 23 points of which have international waves. Scattered among other areas in the Nyang-Nyang, Coral Bajat, Karoniki, Pananggelat and Mainuk (Siberut Island), Katiet Basua (Sipora Island) and North Pagai (Sikakap Island). Given recognition by the international community on the Mentawai waves can be seen from the surfing event held in these islands. Each year, was appointed as the organizer Mentawai Surfing Champions World Series or World Series Championship Surfing Water scheduled each August.

With the championship, the Mentawai can gather 3000 foreign tourists in 2007. As many as 60% of the tourists who come from Australia, 39% of the United States, and the rest of Europe, and Asia. The average tourist spends U.S. $ 2,500 for a surf in the Mentawai. To ensure the comfort and safety of the surfers, managers and local governments hold some supporting facilities.
