Titanic Artifacts Auction - Artifacts and memorabilia from the wreckage of the Titanic will be auctioned by an American company, Guernsey Auctioneers. The number of artifacts were about 5500 pieces, the seven-time dives to the wreck of the Titanic from 1987 until 2004. Titanic is still lying at the bottom of the Atlantic, 400 miles from the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. All the artifacts to be auctioned are grouped in several categories.

The plan, the artifacts will be auctioned on 18 April 2012 in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. There is also a mention Titanic artifacts auction will be held on the 1st of April in Guernsey Auctioneers, New York City. The result will be announced on 15 April, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, which is 15 April 1912.

Any artifacts that have been successfully auctioned, must obtain approval from a federal court judge in the state of Virginia, USA, before moving into the hands of the purchaser.

As quoted from a number of media, artifacts to be auctioned is the stuff that remains after the sinking of the giant ship. Its value is estimated at around U.S. $ 189 million.

Artifacts are all collected by RMS Titanic Foundation. The collection consists of fine china such as plates and cups, vessels, lifeboats and a part of the hull. In some reports, the Titanic artifacts were also composed of a hat, pants, rings, shoes, spoons, bells, wallet, Titanic tickets, knives, necklaces, bracelets, compass, Titanic steering, wall plates are made of metals, glasses, cups, paper money, Titanic accessories and others.

It is not clear how the continuation of this auction. Another story says that the wreck of the Titanic would be protected existence and become the world's cultural heritage. UNESCO will protect the wreck of the Titanic which is considered as underwater cultural heritage through a convention agreed by the countries in the world.

This treaty prohibits the exploration and retrieve artifacts from the Titanic. Forty-one countries have signed the convention. With the rules of UNESCO is likely Titanic artifacts and memorabilia auction will be canceled. But there has been no recent official information.
